About Me

I have now been climbing for 25 years. I started at the age of 7 and have dabbled in most types of climbing from trad to competitions. From the age of 14 to 22 I represented team GB in competition climbing but decided to stop after having glandular fever and discovering that I no longer loved competition climbing, since then I have focused solely on climbing outdoors.

One half of the Creative Climbing One half of the Creative Climbing team with Evie Cotrulia we are now currently offering a Level One Ladies setting workshop. We hope to have a Level Two coming soon! We are also open to enquiries about mixed gender workshops, so get in touch.

I have been a professional route setter for 6 years now and set all over the country. I get very positive feedback from customers and the climbing walls about my setting, (see my testimonials). I am happy to set both boulders and routes. For enquiries about setting days and my day rates please contact me.

I graduated from University with a 2:1 in Sports Science and Coaching. I take on clients when I have the time between route setting and I am open to discussions and options that work for both parties. Areas that I tend to focus on are mental strategies, improving climbing techniques and tailored training session plans. For Coaching enquiries please contact me.

Public Speaking

From time to time I give talks for University Clubs, Climbing Clubs or tailored events. I am happy to talk about a variety of topics depending on the event. Normally I will talk about my adventures and highlights over the last few years but I am also able to focus on tailoring it to everyday life, or the mental side of climbing etc. For enquiries about talks please contact me.

Testimonials from BMC Masterclasses:

Emma managed to engage all of the group, whether experienced or novices. Her style was engaging, informative, encouraging and unbiased. She demonstrated verbally and practically to get her point over and each of us felt we were getting personal and group feedback throughout.

Emma is a superb coach, really positive, really cheerful, and clearly knowledgeable about all aspects of climbing. It was a great overview of climbing technique, and very useful to get individual feedback on ways to improve.

Emma was excellent at coaching a very mixed ability class. Although there were weaker climbers in the group they did not become intimidated and feel they didn’t want to try a problem, which is unusual in my experience. Emma didn’t forget anyone, always knew who had and hadn’t tried a route, who had been first previously and made sure everyone was equally engaged. She obviously had valuable technique feedback and she gave this freely and appropriately. It was nice to see a coach willing to get on the wall and demonstrate in a practical way.

DMM: These guys are my longest standing current sponsor. I have been with them for 6 years now. For me they make the best kit on the market, the quality and the process is astounding. If you ever get the chance in North Wales to check out the factory it is well worth a visit. It’s great to be supported by a local company. To find out more visit: https://dmmclimbing.com
